Are you looking to buy music on your iTunes, but you don’t know how to buy music on iPhone or iPad? Well, then we got the tutorial for you! Down below, we’re going to be teaching you how to buy songs on iPhone/iPad (the traditional way and one after redeeming a gift card!) We’ve also included a helpful trick that you can use if you want to purchase iTunes music on the desktop version of iTunes and transfer it to your iPhone/iPad, so make sure to keep reading till the end!
First, we’re going to start with the basic tutorial — which involves directly buying on your iPad (or iPhone device.) For this, you’re going to need to have an iTunes account, internet connection, and your payment method already set up on your account. If you got all that done, then you should be able to follow our iPad purchase tutorial below fairly easily. If not, then please make sure to do so before proceeding.
First, on your iPad, make sure that you're on the iTunes Music app. On here, you can browse for the song/album that you want. Be it using the search bar offered at the top right-hand corner of the screen, or through the tags that iTunes has set up (new music, popular, featured, genre, etc.)
Once you’ve selected the song/album that you want to purchase, you’ll get an overview of the contents of said album/track (as shown in the image below.) If you selected an album, then you have two choices:
Either way, you’ll be asked to confirm payment after this (which is where having an iTunes account and set payment details will help), do so, and your music should automatically download and be moved to your iPad’s library!
For this next portion, we’re going to be twisting things a bit and teaching you how you can redeem an iTunes gift card in order to purchase your songs on an iPhone! This tutorial is mainly for learning how you can confirm your iTunes Gift Card points, which is necessary if you want to be able to purchase songs without having to use the payment details .
If you scroll to the very bottom of the iTunes store, you’ll see two big options “Redeem” and “Send Gift” right over your Apple ID details. For redeeming a gift card click the Redeem option.
You’ll be moved to a transfer screen where you can either redeem your gift card with your iPhone’s camera (snap a picture of it) or manually input the code by selecting the “You can also enter your code manually” option.
Either way, your iTunes points will be redeemed, and you’ll now be able to purchase with it — just like how we showed you in the previous tutorial!
Is your purchased music not showing up on your iPhone/iPad? Here are a couple of tips and tricks that you might want to try when it comes to restoring or locating purchases on your phone!
As an extra bonus, we’re going to be introducing you to our favorite third-party transfer tool, called iMusic! With this program, you can transfer purchased songs from one device to another — be it your iPhone, iPad, etc. (compatible with Android devices too.) Its transfer feature is available on both Mac and Windows, without much of a difference between one or the other. Options offered by this program include the following:
There are four tabs at the top of the iMusic interface — Get Music (download/record feature), iTunes library (iTunes library management features), Device (Device library management features), and Toolbox (extra options and tools.)
The one that we’re going to be using is the DEVICE tab. Make sure that you’re on it, and that you have your device connected! If you do, then you should be able to select the Transfer Music to iTunes option (as is shown in the image below.)
A second window, called ‘Copy from Device to iTunes’ should appear on top of your screen. This is just a message telling you that iMusic will be scanning both your iPad and your iTunes library so that it can locate the differences and only transfer what needs to be transferred! Click Start in order to begin the automatic scan!
Once the differences have been scanned, all you need to do is click the Copy to iTunes button! iMusic will then automatically download all of the songs on your iPad to your iTunes library! Allowing you to enjoy them in both places with no issue.
Conclusion: That concludes our quick tutorial on how you can buy music on your iPhone/iPad! As we demonstrated for you today, it’s actually a lot simpler than you’d think! It’s just a matter of making sure that you have everything all ready and prepped. The same goes with transferring the iTunes music that you bought to your iTunes library — especially if you use the third-party program that we recommended for you.
