iMovie is a great tool that allows Mac and iPhone 5 (iPhone 5S) users to edit their own home movies. If you have hours and hours of WMV videos you want to edit with iMovie (iMovie 11), it might be odd to think of importing WMV to iMovie for editing since iMovie only supports MOV, MP4 format, but that's exactly what I gonna talk about here - how to import WMV to iMovie on Mac, for those who have the same problem with me.
As we know, WMV (Windows Media Video) is a Windows preferred format and isn't supported by most Mac apps, including iMovie. That means to edit WMV videos in iMovie, first you need to convert WMV to iMovie supported formats, like Movie File Type, MPEG-2 and AVCHD, DV-Standard and HDV (High Definition Video), QuickTime Movie, MEPG-4, MOV, and then transfer the converted videos to iMovie for further editing. Fortunately, with the help of Aimersoft Video Converter for Mac, you can effortlessly convert WMV to a video format supported by iMovie on Mac OS X (Lion and Mountain Lion included). No need to figure out what format to select since it has offered the video preset for you. What is WMV?
WMV stands for Windows Media Video. Being said so, it is created by Microsoft. It is actually a subset of the Advanced Systems Format or ASF. But even if WMV is a Microsoft product, it can be played easily on Macintosh systems via QuickTime. WMV is mostly used for playing video files, not necessarily for editing them. The WMV format is regarded to be a closed source codec that leaves little room for manipulation.
